Service with a smile

Pictures of the St. George Temple

Well, today was the day that our ward was asked to help decorate the St. George Temple for Christmas. We are grateful for the ten families that showed up at 8:00 this morning to help out. The Little Miss and Kambino had a blast. They were the official extension cord holders, and Kameron was dying to take the golf cart for a spin. I'll tell you what, I have to watch that kid 24/7. He is only four, but I wouldn't put it past him to take off in that thing.

Usually I am not very serious when it comes to blogging, I love to make fun of myself and tell you all humiliating stories, but today is different. I enjoyed doing the service project with my family. It was fun to kick of the holidays decorating the Temple and reflecting on the gospel.

Another reason was I felt so close to my Grandpa Fyans today. He was called to be the Temple President for a time down here, and I have very fond memories of his service. He was a very inspirational person who dedicated his whole life to the church. He passed way in May of this year, at the ripe age of 90. I didn't really understand all the things that my Grandpa did for the church until his death, but there are so many things that we use in the church today that he implemented. We were honored to have most of the Quorum of the Twelve and President Monson attend his funeral. They met with us privately and told us wonderful stories of my Grandpa. As I was gazing up at the temple today, I knew that he was near, and I felt gratitude in my heart that I knew such a great man. I love him very much.
