FLASHBACK FRIDAY: Summer

OKAY!! Christmas is done and the tree is down. Bring on the heat. Anyone who knows me knows that I am a warm weather gal. No mittens or boots for this Senora.

This really isn't a flashback at all, it is more like wishful thinking. I know that I already live in an area where the temperature will melt you right out of your car in July, and your pool season starts in April and ends in November, but I am ready for it.

I love the smell of sunscreen. It makes me remember every summer I have celebrated in my 30 years. From running through the sprinklers when I was little to spending my summers in Bear Lake with my cousin (and all the boys that came with it). It makes me think of my summer job at White Tower swimming pool. I have worked there from the time I was 14 up until I was atleast 23 or 24 doing odd jobs like lifeguarding and swimming lessons. Now my two kids enjoy swimming there. We meet friends and family at the "Tower" and swim the day away, well, whenever we visit Sandy!
I had to tell my husband that I had a secret love. This was not easy for me because I did not want anyone else to know. One, that sometimes preoccupies my thoughts and allows me to have that distant look it my eyes. So one night I just told him. I LOVE Lake Powell! There is nothing better to me then parking the house boat in a secluded shaded area (yes, if you know where to go there will be shade) waiting until the sun has burned the day away, and right before dusk, the rocks are glowing red and the water is glass, and I can't help but jump in and mess it all up with my skiing. It's the best.
So my ode to summer is about done. Come what may... skin cancer ( I hope not, but I do apply liberally several times), sun spots ( they will come sooner or later ), premature aging ( I think this has been happening for a while), and the DREADED swim suit season. Go ahead BRING IT ON!!!

The good old White Tower days:) those were fun summers. I did always feel bad that we were in the pool playing and you were just sitting on the tower in your red swimsuit. Good TIMES!!
