FLASHBACK FRIDAY:My husband

Many of you know my husband Greg. Well Greg was born near Rexburg, Idaho in the small town of Sugar City. When he was just a little guy, the Grand Teton Dam broke and down came the water. Greg's parents had less than 30 minutes notice. They packed as much as they could into their attic, including pictures, journals, and anything else that they wanted to save, just to have it all wash away. The flood waters were too much for their little house. The house lifted off the foundation and they lost everything. Including the pictures of Greg when he was young. I have never seen any pictures of Greg when he was little because nobody had any. I was so surprised when I got an e-mail form his cute Aunt Sharon telling me she found a few pictures at her house. I was so excited. I was so amazed how much our little Kambino looks like his Dad. It is scary! I am so grateful for these treasures and will always hold the dear. Thanks Sharon!!

As many of you know, Greg and I lived through the St. George 2005 flood. Our house was on the Virgin River. The floods waters came and damaged basements all around us, but our house was saved due to countless people sandbagging. For that, we are grateful. My mother-in-law instructed me to save three things. Journals, pictures, and my scriptures, because you can live without anything else, and you will regret loosing these three things the most. She is one of the wisest people I know. The two days of sandbagging were two of the hardest days of physical labor I have ever endured, but they were also among some of the funnest days as well. We witnessed many miracles over those days, some to sacred to write in a blog, but you would have been amazed how fast the Church got things organized. Sand baggers, movers, food preparation, you name it, it was taken care of. So tonight, tell your husbands how much you love them, and share your childhood pictures with your kids. They will LOVE it!!

How sad that Greg's family lost everything in the flood. I didn't know he grew up in Sugar City (that is where my sisters husband is from). Also I didn't realize that you dealt with the floods in St George. I'm sure you have some amazing stories!
